Feed the Hungry Inc., aims to uplift the spirit and well-being of the poorest of the poor through its six core programs. one of which is the Feeding and Nutrition Program. This program provides supplemental nutritious food to malnourished children. FtH aims to ensure that these indigent children are properly nourished . For many of the recipients this food is their only healthy and substantial meal for the day so that the assurance of receiving such a meal inspires them to attend school, enables them to have the energy to be active academically, and subsequently leads them to value their education.

In 2017, three Feeding and Nutrition Program distribution sites are benefiting from FtH:

1. Bankerohan Sur Elementary School, Purok 3, Barangay Taglaki, Montevista, Compostela Valley, Davao.
FtH collaborates with E-CARE Compassion Ministries, Inc. There are 87 schoolchildren of various ages participating. The amount of assistance is $1,000. Most of the food prepared come from their own livelihood program such as vegetable gardening and poultry and livestock raising. Program started July 10, 2017 and will end December 2017.

2. Saint Francis of Assisi School, Silay City Heritage Zone, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Children of farm laborers are the participants in the feeding program. The Tapulanga Foundation Inc. oversees the program and reports to FtH on regular basis. The first program was for 50 children. 6-7 years old. The amount of assistance was $2,000. Program began October 2016 and ended March 2017. The second program for another 50 children. 6-7 years old began in October 20 17 and will end in March 2018. The amount of assistance is $1,800.

3. Catalunan Grande Elementary School, Catalungan Main Road, Davao City.
Feeding and Nutrition Program provides for 100 schoolchildren, 5-7 years old. The Catanihan Foundation Inc. of Davao City is overseeing the implementation of the program. Amount of assistance is $3,000. Program started in October 2017 and will end March 2018.

Two more sites are being processed for feeding program this year. Beneficiaries of the program are 50 schoolchildren, 7 years old and below, at Lumaniag Elementary· School, Borongay Lumaniog, Lian, Batongas. The amount of assistance is $1 .800. Secondly, with the Inner Wheel Club of the Philippines as partner. FtH Feeding and Nutrition Program will provide assistance to 60 malnourished schoolc hildren of Hicming Elementary School, Virac, Catanduanes. The amount of assistance is $2,500.

So many children go to school with an empty stomach. Feed the Hungry, lnc.’s Feeding and Nutrition Program continues to help alleviate the vicious cycle of hunger and poverty in the Philippines. The Feeding and Nutrition Program welcomes partners to help further enhance its program and to reach many more hungry children as possible.
